seeking _ PCMCIA _ information
    #11478605 - 11/18/09 01:27 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I need to copy information off of a pcmcia card onto a pc.  I have found an external drive which I would be able to plug the card into but this device only accepts a parallel port cable.  I am wondering if I were to have a parallel to usb cable hooked up to this drive, would I be able to see(and copy) the files like I could off of an external hard drive?

Hmm.. If the PCMCIA card has a parallel connector, it's going to need some client software / driver installed on your PC. It's very unlikely that a USB-parallel adapter will magically make it appear as a drive.

Is it definately parallel? Not 25-pin serial?

Your best bet is to find someone with a laptop so you can just plug it straight in..

Alternatively, post the make and model of the PCMCIA card reader..

Are you certain that it is a PCMCIA card?  If so, there are plenty of laptops with PCMCIA slots still on the market.
