Need some help with a pesky problem
    #11474997 - 11/17/09 04:36 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

For some reason my computer has started logging out all my accounts when I close my browser.  Now every time I close my browser and open it up again I have to log in everywhere I go even though I check all the boxes to "remember me" upon returning.  I can't think of anything I've done that would cause this.  Checked my settings to be sure I was accepting cookies, etc.  Anyone have any ideas what I should look for?  Its a real pain in the ass having to log in everywhere I go all the time.

I'm running Google Chrome on Windows XP media edition.

Did you change any browser settings?  Sounds like it may be dumping your cookies or something.

Thats what I thought, but I checked all my settings.  I hadn't changed anything and I'm still allowing cookies.  At first it only happened to a few websites (Facebook, eRepublik, to name a couple).  My Shroomery account was still fine when I logged on.  But in the process of trying to figure it out I dumped all my cookies and started from scratch.  Now everything logs off every time I close the browser.  Its got me baffled.

Try a different browser and a different computer maybe.  Do a little process of elimination.

Well, its definitely my browser.  Its clearing all the cookies when I close it.  Can't figure it out though.  I hate to re-install because losing all my bookmarks/saved passwords is a hassle.  But I might have to try that if I can't solve this one.

I wouldn't have thought you'd lose your bookmarks, dunno about saved passwords. I don't use Chrome but you can usually save/export your bookmarks so you can keep a backup..

you could easily backup all your bookmarks, they are simply a file on your comp somewhere with a bunch of links in it, saved passwords though i have no clue...

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

usually there is an option to export bookmarks as an html doc. as far as i know thats readable by most modern browsers.

and usually if you install something like firefox the first time you start it up it will say something like "would you like to import a profile from X browser?"

usually just a few clicks..
