To any Baldur's Gate fan...

There is a patch out called the BGT (Baldur's Gate Trilogy) that basically combines BG1, 2, and Throne of Bhaal into one game and lets you play BG1 with the BGII engine, graphics and all. It even automatically transitions from BG1 to BGII, providing a cover story and all! Read all about/get it HERE
This is a fucking godsend for hardcore Baldur's Gate fans like myself! Make sure you own the game though. Even though pirating is quick and easy there are a few people on these boards who will derail your threads and try to defame your character for doing so, you bastards know who you are ( ).
If you follow the directions to the T it'll work just fine. Those of you running windows 7 will need to boot to Safe Mode to extract the package to the BGII folder (it just doesn't work for some reason in normal mode). But any questions feel free to respond. I'm so excited to start this epic adventure over again with widescreen support and I urge you to do the same.
This is one of the greatest games ever made (next to Final Fantasy VII) and even if you've never played or heard of it before I urge you to try it. Here, I'll rock you a WiKi

not to sound like a newb, but i take it this is for PC, not my lowly PS2????
But none the less, BG fuckin rocks.
My gf has BG1, BG2, Champions of Norrath And CON2. Its just PS2, but she let me have them, just played BG1 a few weeks ago. We are so far behind, but i dont mind, bc we play new games all the time on the supercheap!
Never done PC games, but i can see how this one would be a great one!

Yeah it's PC. It's great because it uses an interface similar to Command and Conquer. It's really easy to select whatever party member you want and issue commands accordingly. It really adds a refreshing vibe to Baldur's Gate I; rather than playing in 640x480 you can play 1280x960, and it looks just like BGII because it's using that engine. The install process for the patch can be kinda scary but just follow the directions and it'll run like a charm.

And BG for the PS2 is nothing like the PC version. The PC one can take 100+ hours to complete. There are just so many sidequests that can lead you in a weird direction it's uncanny. Lot's of fun.

I first played BG when I was like... 10 or something. I instantly fell in love. I've beaten Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, and Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 multiple times.
I'm pretty interested in this patch. Does it allow dual wielding on BG1? Does it allow you to play sub classes such as Kenesai or Mage Hunter on BG1?

Yep lets you do all that. Anything you could do in BG2 you can do in BG1

Sweet. Too bad I left my BG1 and 2 discs at my parent's place when I moved away. Bahahaha.
Damn, it's been too long since I whooped Irenecus.

I might have to load everything up sometime over Christmas or Summer break for one last epic run-through.

The replay value is just incredible. I've never been one to use mages or anything really magic-heavy, I'll have to give it a go after I roll my fighter. Hack n' slash is usually my strategy.

Too bad Return to Windspear never got released. It was a badass mod a group of folks were working on that added +20 or 30 hours of gameplay post-ToB.
