90 day mexicana-a disapointment

I just opened two quart jars of mexicana-a in rye grass seed, spores were from multispore syringe. The mycelium was 100% after about 3 weeks.
I haven't seen any stones near the glass, which from reading is common with mexicana-a, but hoped for the best when I opened them.
Not a single stone in either jar. I have 4 jars left from that batch, I'm tempted to open them all, but I will hold off another month before trying again.

I don't have any casing prepped right now. Besides, I pretty much abused the RGS jars I opened today, its already in the trash... I went through them by hand separating every single grain of seed, amazed that not one stone was in there..
But, yes... I should probably try and fruit one of the remaining jars.
edited: another thing, the first jar, I had maybe 8 tiny stone looking things. I thought to myself is this undissolved gypsum?.. There's only one way to find out.. I didn't weight them, they were small, so I ate all 8 of them. IN the back of my mind Im thinking "these have to be sclerotia, its been three months"...
SO, I opened the second jar, one of the two jars I specifically labeled and put in no gypsum, I was going to use these as comparisons to the gypsum jars.
when I sorted that seed all out there was zero small stone looking things..
so, yea.. I'm pretty sure I ate 8 pebbles of gypsum tonight..

Rye grass seed is inferior to rye berries for sclerotia production. Twenty-five years ago somebody grew sclerotia on rye grass seed. Paul wrote it up in TMC, and since then everybody seems to think that's the only way to go.
Next time use rye berries. Also, if you'll squirt some spores on agar, and then when stones form, transfer a few stones to rye grain, you'll end up with a jar that's over 50% filled with sclerotia after six weeks. RR

Question;
Does the BE increase when RGS is replaced with Rye berries?

I heard Sandoz labs were growing mexicana sclerotia as the most efficient way to produce biomass, not sure what they used but have it in my head it was RGS. I have seen many successful RGS grows, una from mushmush had good grows on RGS. I have grown well on RGS but my only wheat grain grow contamed on me.
However John Allen visited procare in holland (a big producer of commercial shrooms & sclerotia. I asked him what they used for the tampanensis and he said "They use rye Berry seed for their spawn . Takes 8-15 weeks or more per bag.". I have a tamp syringe I plan on using and have both RGS & wheat to use, might do them side by side. I am not sure if I have ever seen a rye grain growlog.

this is all a bit over my head.. what are stones? when growing cubensis with RGS/WBS do i need to worry about stones?
okay after a bunch of searching i have come t6o the conclusion that you eat those things and i don't need to worry about it if they arent there?

Stones (also refered as philosophers stones,truffles) are psilocybe containing masses that can be grown in jars and eaten just like that to trip. They are produced by several exotic species(ATL #7, tampensis, mexicana -a, mexicana b) You can use the stones to fruit and make fruit bodies or like I said above just eat the stones and trip off of them
