For 3 pounds? haha no way man.

If they are decently sized and get a nice cola going on with enough time and light they'll produce buds... 65 sounds REALLY good for 3 lbs for CFLS

how many watts did you have

So fucking true.  The thc production, bud/plant structure, yield is just phenomenal in comparison.

I'd say it would take about 30-40 plants under CFLs (depending on light-rig & genetics of strain) for 3 pounds.

It'd Prolly take 6-12 plants to get 3 pounds under a nice 600 watt HPS but also depends greatly on genetics.  HPS = :bigweed:

They get the job done if you're on a budget.

But yeah, HPS is so much better. MH isn't too bad, either. LED is the new shit that's tight right now though. Honestly, if LED's were cheaper, I'd stock up on them fuckers quick.

LEDs are gimmicky bullshit, I've seen a side by side comparison of several
systems, each in a separate room with a view window, 3 were LED systems
and each of those had very shitty results, the others were HID and a CFL

no way in fucking hell I'd use an LED system, they simply dont work for shit

Really?

A local dispensary owner was trying to tell me how much he loved the fuckers. He said it was 'the future' of lumen production. He even had some over his own plants for display. Of course, they weren't flowering; they were clones. So, maybe the difference resides in the flowering period of cannabis?

I don't know. But if you have any scientific/reputable sources for your information, I'd gladly read that shit.

a hydro shop in atlanta had them set up using tomatoes, they were sent the
units for evaluation, anyway their test consisted of 4 plants in each room
with one fixture, they ran hydro and soil for each type of lighting, 2/2,
they kept everything other than light the same for each grow, all the
plants under the LEDs were very sickly, he recommended staying away from
the lights at all costs

here's a comparison, watch beginning to end and dont let the appearances fool you

Wow. That was insightful. It seemed the LED plant would stretch a lot more than the HID plant while the HID specimen grew to be quite compact with its bud growth.
I love it when you learn new things!
Well, the dispensary owner I conversed with was selling LED lights, so I'm not surprised that he'd give me misinformation about it. Whatever. You learn, and you live.

they guy is trying to sell a product but also understand that he's
probably not growing himself and relying on people that are moving from
trying to use incandescents or tube fluros to these and seen great
results, certainly not comparable to HID... another thing to expect would
be popcorn buds, usually when plants are stretching they put out crappy buds

Yeah I understand.

The laws about weed... Make no sense over here. You can either have a plant OR 3 grams in your possession. Makes you think that you harvest much more then 3 grams...

5 plants in holland

1lb at the most under optimal conditions (with CF's)

Looking at my math now i feel like a total idiot... I did it wayyyyy wrong. Thanks for pointing that out.

I figure you should get about a half lb a plant under CFL's under prime conditions.  So for 32 plants one should yield a pound.  So with that math, about 95 plants should yield 3 lbs... I have no idea how i fucked up my math that bad. WOW!  :foreheadslap:

Witha 600 watt HPS, one should yield at least 2 oz. if they have some plants with nice genetics. So about 8 plants for 1 lb and 24 plants for 3 lbs.

Indeed.

Also, the Growery needs bitches. The lack of titties is depressing.

There are girls here. They are lucrative.

Clones in the same container? Well, inducing flowering requires a 12/12 light-dark light regime. If you require some clones to maintain their vegetative status, you need to keep them away from the 12/12 light-dark photo-period.

But if you're sexing them all, then yes, you can. Just make sure to kill the bananas.

Wait, are you talking about a propagation tray? or the same pot, so to speak?

Yeah, that's fine. As long as your clones are individually 'potted', it's cool. You don't want your roots to get tangled together now, would you? Now, are there means of humidity? I'm assuming you're keeping the container covered, which works fine as long as photons are able to penetrate it; opaque, but seemingly transparent, material is a no-no.

Discard males ASAP. The slightest residue of pollen could mean seeds.

I watched a video saying get rid of the clones after you fine out the sex because they will not produce any bud worth keeping an will just take up space(Witch im limited on) so i wasn't planning on keeping the clone so dose it really matter if the roots tangle? oh and i put them in my home made mushroom dome to keep the humidity up i guess growing mushrooms finally came in handy

It DOES matter if the roots get tangled up! The tap root of the cannabis plant is highly reflective of the plant's growth. You fuck with the roots, you fuck with its growth. Thus, you might end up with stunted midgets for a Big Bud plant if you handle the roots wrong.

I'm not going to say 'Hey, don't do it.' because you seem to have limited space, but I prefer using rockwool cubes in a propagation tray with a humidity dome over it. They are easy to handle, and very convenient with space due to its design.

Both are relatively cheap.

Rockwool AND propagation trays can be found at any hydroponic store. Just google 'hydroponic store' for any local locations.

i just got my HPS 600W with a refective hood.
now im growing in a closet about 4x4 space with No ventilation
an the room gets hot like outside is 65in temp inside my house is 74 an in the room is around 80 would it be possible for a police helicopter to find it or see it?

I pulled this out of Marijuana Horticulture The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible by Jorge Cervantes.

Quote:

  • A 400-watt HID delivers plenty of light to illuminate a 4 x 4-foot (1.2m x 1.2m) area well. Hang the lamp from 12 to 24 inches (30-60cm) above the canopy of the garden.
  • A 600-watt HP delivers enough light to illuminate a 4 x 4-foot (1.2m x 1.2m) area well. Hang the lamp from 12 to 24 inches (30-60cm) above the plants.

(167, Cervantes)

If you're going closet, you should think about proper ventilation. You need proper ventilation in order to keep temps somewhat ambient, humidity low, and air circulation high. Without it, your plants could suffer. Look at squirrel cage fans, centrifugal blowers, inline fans, etc. Keep in mind the cfm, also.

If this is your first grow, you don't have to get everything right down to the T. Do your earnest, and work up from there, using your first grow as a stepping stone to your next.

Personally, I want to see it grow. But competition does pose a problem.

Build a grow cabinet. That's all I have to say.

Put in a little more time and effort into it, and your plants will thank you accordingly. With a grow cabinet, everything you mentioned will pose no problem for you. And, if you're crafty, you could have a separate veg compartment for some bonsai mothers. Then, you could even go perpetual, harvesting every week or every other week; depending on your own preferences.

I think you have a bit too many plants for that amount of space and light. Are they still in vegetative?!

I'd say flower those fuckers and use SOG/ScrOG/LST. If it gets crowded, put some plants outside for 12 hrs. of sunlight, and bring 'em back in for sleepy time.

I'm guessing you don't live in CA.

Sex them. Now. Kill the males. Do it quick! It'll save you room and a lot of time and stress. You might even want to kill off some females that are looking a bit small, or stunted. Keep the nicest growing plants with the nicest structure. Plants with too much stretching can't hold a fat amount of bud without toppling over. Clone the nicest specimens and keep them with your other clones. You have too many plants for that amount of room. If they were all clones, that'd be a different story. Alas, I can point out two or three fat ones that might cause you problems with space.

If you want to conserve space, think about SOG/ScrOG/LST. Hopefully, after the male plant genocide, you'll have a bit more room to work with.
