Geolite no pumps no contam?

Hi fellow shroomers :smile:

Been reading here for a while, joined today :laugh:

I attempted a grow with the pf tek, but I think I messed up (overheated) so now I am planning on starting over.
The thing is, I don't know if I should use perlite or geolite for my fruiting chamber. I have lots of geolite, and perlite is expensive where I live, so I guess I'm hoping that geolite will do the trick, without me having to use air pumps/bubblers.

So my questions are:

1) Will I be able to keep the himidity high, if using geolite and misting and fanning 2-3 times a day?

2) Will I be able to avoid contamination (or at least "too high" a risk for same) if I add some H2O2 and NaOH to the water inside the fc and still mist with regular tap water?

I am not sure about this H2O2 and NaOH thing, will you tell me how much to use, and is both necessary? Also, I heard that the water inside the fc should be PH 12, so as to avoid contamination from the water, when not using air pumps. Can this be true? I really hope for an answer and thanks in advance.

dont use either they dont prevent contams.

just make a shotgun FC and use 6"+ of your geolite.  you will probably have to mist and fan more cuz your not using perlite.  it is best.

if your cakes are fully colonized and consolidated then contams shouldnt be an issue.  keep temps in between 70*-78*F  for colonizing and fruiting.

use perlite, its reusable anyways.
