How do you describe the Marijuana Consciousness Shift
    #11443809 - 11/12/09 09:48 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

There is apparently a change of consciousness that is had while feeling the effects of marijuana. We all know. We all feel it. And to some degree, when we're in such a good state, we understand it. But once it leaves us we can't exactly put our hands on how we felt.
So I am asking, how do you describe the change of mind due to the effects of marijuana.
I'd say the effects are subtle yet intense. We are still in the world we know, but everything is just a little different. Everything just holds a little more meaning behind it. We understand colors for what they really are. We are given the ability to be more observant, to think faster, more introspective thoughts. The change is a heightening of perception with a relaxation of the body, giving the sluggish feeling.
I'd say actual reality feels heavier. There seems to be more mass to everything around me when I'm high. It is hard to explain. It has nothing to do with when I touch or pick up something. But just sitting in my chair, it feels like the air almost is pushing in on me. Everything is more stony and intense. I like the change.

Just a marijuana consciousness shift?

My consciousness is almost exclusively shifted when I take strong hallucinogens.

I do see it's consciousness changing potential, but it's much, much too weak to be able to help us before this 2012 rebirth.

Most of the things you said are things I experience on mushrooms. I hope this doesn't mean I smoke too much weed....

In regards to your weight comment, I feel the opposite under certain influences. I feel light and free, like a weight has been taken off of me. Interesting.

I'd say it's a heavy thought stimulant.  Perhaps subtle and intense, in that it pronounces, or intensifies one's awareness of subtle details.

Cannabis has a nice take on things, it's a perception I enjoy having, but only often enough not to lose appreciation.

I view reality as an illusion, it's like looking in a fish tank. Everyday you look at the fish from the top, the water is to rough to see through, weed calms ya down and ya can see from the side a very visible beautiful fish.
But the fish is all in your own mind >.<

Well, I meant the effects in a mild way. Not full blown or anything.

And correction, marijuana is not a heavy stimulant. It is proven to lower blood pressure, as any reliable site will tell you. It is very interesting that marijuana is neither a true stimulant nor a true depressant. While it slows down blood pressure it increases heart rate. So it's kind of both. That's why you get relaxed, meanwhile your mind is going crazy.

I wasn't referring to 'stimulant' in terms of the drug classification.  I said it was a 'thought stimulant', a stimulator of thoughts, essentially.

Marijuana is the underestimated joker of the drug world. It completely owns the human mind and heightens awareness but it has some how managed to completely infiltrate all aspects of society with so few people realizing its true power.

marijuana increases beta brainwaves.
so creativity, clarity in thoughts and awareness are greatly increased.

I just feel like darks are darker, and brights are brighter...it's weird. As far as thought process, I get very philosophical and creative.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I read a few posts back in this thread about it being way too mild to be used as a catalyst for transformation in any profound sense, or something.  I think people fail to recognize how profoundly it already has and is transforming us.  Perhaps they're just not paying attention, or have become so accustom to its effects that they think about them about as deeply as they think about breathing air.  I think one has to participate in a ganja experience, or that of any psychedelic informer for that matter.

Perhaps to recognize its insightful power, one must have the capacity to accept it.  The whole experience seems often really taken for granted.  I think it may just be going over a lot of people's heads.

Yeah exactly. Its already altered our consciousness. I think its amazing the difference between people who have never smoked pot and the people who do. I think it could be that pot teaches you to question things on a higher level.

Yeah, that's it - in order to be stimulated by a psychedelic, one has to have the capacity to be stimulated.  Psychedelics can assist us, but the experience is dead in the water if we don't partake.  It's up to us to access them.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

intensely introspective, in a Freudian sort of way

deepened appreciation for some dimensions of music, film, literature, beauty, even just thought itself.

definitely stimulates novel thinking

But if you truly do embrace the higher level of questioning that it can provide you with, over time, does it eventually become your standard, ordinary, baseline way of thinking? or, does it continue to raise the bar, always compensating for your advancements in order to sustain them?
