Narly invitro boomer - safe? (pics) ed: more pics
    #1142941 - 12/15/02 12:31 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

This cake was left in my incubator for a tad long because my terriarium didn't have space for it. Anyways, a huge mushroom was growing invitro and twisted it's way around the cake and got pretty beat up in the process. It seems to be alive still, there's some growth on the stalk where it split open - almost seems to be repairing itself. There's a lot of blue from brushes, but i don't think there's actually anything wrong with it. There's no contams anywhere else on the cake, or in my terrarium for that matter. Another shroom on the cake is doing fine. There's also some mycellium growth on the part of stalk that was squished into the cake by the wall of the jar.
So, despite this mushrooms horrible appearance, what do people think? is it safe?

Hell yeah, that shroom looks healthy. I've forgotten jars in the past that grew some nice invitros. Eat 'em up!

cool. i picked it. check this out.
sorry, don't have a scale so can't tell you how much it weighs. but i figure it will be about an 1/8th dried.
also, what do you think of this other shroom that got seriously squished invitro - again all of that blue/black is from bruising, no signs of contams at all. should be fine right? even though it's ugly as shit.
