Easy Poo Tek

This is how I use horse poo, it is easy and has great results.

1.) Sterilize poo - I put old horse poo in a pillowcase and boil on medium heat in a large pot for an hour. You have to use something heavy to weight it down, I use a 5 lb weight

2.) Strain the water out of the poo. Its great for plants if you have any that need a treat.

3.) Crumble the poo and some BRF cakes (or any fully colonized substrate) into a rubbermaid container. You can use any type of pan or whatever you want. Make sure to clean it good first with hot soapy water.

4.) Layer the top with vermiculite. You dont really have to do this but it makes the trays last longer without getting contaminates.

5.) Cover with aluminum foil or if you use a rubbermaid just use the top.

TA-DAAAA!

It usually takes a week from the time you do this before you see pins. The make good flushes. I average 1/2 oz to oz dried per container and usually make 5-6 flushes. Also when they are done fruiting I crumbled the colonized poo into some fresh poo and let it start over. Here are some pics of some recent B+ flushes I had.

I am a beginner with the poo TEK's and I just had a few questions.
How exaclty do you strain the poo, How much do you use per 1/2 pint jar? does it smell when you are boiling and when it is pinning/fruiting? Thanks for the post, now I am very interested in using your technique :smile: :smile:

Hmm, this guy left a lot out. you do NOT boil the poo, you pasteurize, not sterilize. pasteurization takes places between 160-170 degreess F, any hotter you'll kill good bacteria which leads to contamination. Also, a 50/50+ casing layer (jiffy mix, it's cheap) works really really well, better than verm i would say. plus, it looks like your shrooms are growing out of dirt, not funny white globs. And to answer someone's question, i have used a 2 1/2 inch by 6 inch by 2 1/2 inches deep of poo with very good success with 1/2 pint BRF. 3 days to full colonization

Do you have step by step intructions for your TEK trace. I really want to work with poo but I need a TEK that doesn't need a PC so i need to use the fractional sterilization method. If anyone else has ny simple TEK's for poo that'd be great.
