Little PE action

Quart of PE mixed with compost.. how come they tend to grow on the edges of the casing, because of built up moisture or something? Not my best pinset.
penis envy has a mind of it's own, can't say I enjoy growing it very much.

I was under the impression that all shrooms tend to grow near the edges. could be you don't have adequate peaks and valleys.
on a side note I can't believe the messed up looking fruits people have been getting from PE lately.

Do PE still produce mutants from a clone or an isolate that has been selected to most resemble a dick?

mutants are not entirely produced by genetics. environmental factors can contribute to mutation.
to answer your question I would bet yes, since the PE's themselves are "mutants"

Right. That's what I was assuming. I would assume if the environmental variables stayed the same, you could probably select genetics to give less of a chance to produce the puff balls, or non-dick like mushrooms (for aesthetic purpose of course).

I have never had puff balls from PE.
as far as not eating a "dick" goes, just get another strain. that's why PE is PE.

Oh I know. I have APE and PE colonizing right now. I would like to grow the most dick like mushrooms I can. I agree, that's the point.

lol..it's a joke between me and my girl who also grow with me. We just refer to them as dicks, not even mushrooms kinda like a codeword when we are talking casually. So anytime I refer to PE I just say dick.

just to be an ass...
so when you're out with your "girl" you tell her "we should go home and eat like 5 huge dicks" - this turns her on, eh?

just a joke BTW.

They are forming around the sides because as the substrate shrinks away from the sides, optimal fruiting conditions are found there rather than the top of the sub.
To cut down, even eliminate that, line with a trash bag.

Yeah I figured thats why they come from the sides, what is it about that area thats optimal? Probably more moisture right? I should be able to create that in tub.

Humidity is higher there. Your best bet is to use the trash bag. As the substrate shrinks, the myc sticks to it so the sides are never exposed. Keeps the fruiting surface on top.
