Saving Lizard King

So I thought these jars were contaminated and I place them on my veranda until I cleaned them out. So today I decided to stop being lazy and started cleaning jars out and to my surprise found this jar invitro pinning. It is Lizard King and I lost the original print. I would really like to save this race for my collection. I was thinking that maybe I could dissect one of the shrooms soak it in peroxide and place it onto agar to get an isolate. I am correct in this? How long should I soak it in H2O2? Where is the best place to dissect? Inside the stem? The cap? For the proper instructions I am willing to give a Lizard King print out to those that help me once I complete a successful grow.

just put that on agar. no need to put in H2O2 just cut from the base or from right under the cap on the stem.

Inside the stem is perfect, near the base is where i take my samples form. Peroxide should be fine also you can do two washes in H2O2, wash and then in some fresh peroxide soak for a while. I soak for less than 5 mins but im impatient, a lil longer is ok i wouldnt do it for 30 mins or something. Id use the H2O2 cos you know the jar is contamed otherwise no need.
The clone tissue may sector and further work may be needed to isolate the various sectors which could appear. Each sector should then be tested to see its productivity or what ever factor you like, size, potency....

At the top of the stipe right below the cap is the recommended place to harvest a tissue sample.
No need to use H2O2. Just slice off the outer skin and use a syringe to collect the sample from the inside of the stipe.
I hope you can save it!

It doesn't matter how long it's been out there. As long as the shrooms are still alive, your golden.
Remember, it's just as easy to do four dishes as it is to do one...

Are they still alive? Four dishes instead of one? I take it you mean to use four samples and do four dishes of agar?

Yeah, sorry. I meant four agar plates. Just to be on the safe side.
That way if you grow the green, you'll still have a better chance of a clean isolate.

Geeza, cheers for the print offer but you might as well give it to someone who will use it.

believe it was a texas cube, which carries the name of the 'founder' (a member on the forums) was found to have partially colonized wood chips as well. it's in the strain guide though. Godwilling, there should be some prints up for grabs in the next 2 weeks

if you have 2qts of LKs spawn get your tissue samples that you want then spawn them to 4qts of CVC+g (mix is up 2 U) in a tray/minimono. Id fruit it away from all your other projects incase the contams come back.
