Habitat:
Where does it grow? In high grass near/on decaying wood debris

Gills:
light brown/tan, they appear free.

Stem:
3-5 inches, light brown/tan fading to white towards the top, a partial veil in younger ones breaking free to leave a faint remnant veil

Cap:
brown, smooth, flattening out with age, up to 1.5" across

Spore print color:
didn't take spore print

Bruising:
no blueing, maybe a little bit darker but that's about it.

Hard to say for sure with those pics, but I would venture to guess you have some Naematoloma sp.

Ok. Definitely not sulfur tufts, could be capnoides I guess but the caps don't quite look right to me.

Interesting.

You will probably need a spore print and/or clear macro pics in order to ID it.

Maybe not though, Alan seems to nail mushrooms pretty often from little info and shitty pics...

Cool mushroom though, regardless of what it is. :headbanger:

I think you're probably right - I guess variation could account for the slight difference in cap shape.

You might be right - I googled this species and found some pretty identical pictures. The only thing is the caps are smooth, not fibrous. Interesting!
