Then how on Earth can it possibly be deemed inappropriate to discuss religion's effects on global politics in this forum?
did you miss everything I said or something about stressing a point?
I read everything you said; either you will allow discussion of religion's effects on global politics, or you will not.

well not quite, I dont normally lock or dump threads, I rarely delete posts, usually only when it's a flame... threads evolve and as I've stated religion and politics are intertwined, locking the hasan threads was simply to stress a point regarding consistency

Look politics are never a matter of religion; it's ALWAYS about the money and power.
You can claim you did it for allah, god or jesus, i don't care, it's whats actually done that matters when debating society.
You wanna debate religion?, read the various holy books and compare them to each others, then have a laugh by the philisophical diversities, that's a great way to enlight yourself, but to critizese the believes of other's and how they are using them, is futile as you simply cannot say. The argument wouldn't hold any water, especiallly if you haven't read any of the books.
I for one thinks george bush did everything possible to serve the pupose of the lord, but i won't judge him by that, but instead by his actions.

And religion isn't about money and power? The primary purpose of (almost all) religion is a tool to control the masses through fear and intimidation.

Yeah yeah organized religion and all that shit, I know the tool phrases as i've been reading maynard interviews too. Every society is a systematic repression of the kids growing up taking to power, then defending it, thus establishing a reactionary powerhouse- manipulating from the top and giving people a sense of responsibility that they need to work for. Hence the great focus on the middleclass in american politics.
You can't blame god for that though, you need to look at the process of politics to define the problems.
Behind every action there's a motive, which is hidden from the public eye, and if the act is good then fine, if it's not then it has to be scrutinized by the media.
The religious debate is just a cover up for realising the real problems, which is of very pragmatic nature in politics, and to solve these you need free communication about what's actually taking place.
The motive can't be questioned, it's always there.
