Fans of hiphop, friend needs feedback
    #11418434 - 11/09/09 02:14 PM (8 years, 11 days ago)

My old roommate, and one of my best friends, is huge into the hiphop scene. He grew up around it his whole life. His brother works for a major label and he is the guy who signed Rick Ross.

When I lived with the guy we used to blaze a blunt, hangout and watch TV for a while, then he'd work on beats. He has made beats and produced some tracks for a few other up and coming people. IMHO the dude makes some damn good beats.

I knew for a while that he had been working on his own tracks, driving to a studio out on Staten Island and doing some recording, but he never let me hear them. Since he has met a lot of big names(Rick Rubin) in the hiphop industry out in Cali and given them some demos, they told him that they want to hear more. So he has gotten to work and put some new stuff on YouTube.

A lot of his stuff is experimental and in the spirit of fun and nostalgia. Anyway, I figured I'd post it up and get some feedback from you guys.

Any feedback you can give on YouTube would be appreciated. If you have some constructive criticisms, post those here and I'll pass them on to him.

Whoa, I just realized that the "Comic Relief" track was actually a freestyle that he did while drinking after shooting this Halloween video:

Him and one of his boys were hanging out after shooting that and he just did that spit out that comic relief unrehearsed. That is awesome.

Word thanks, I'll let him know. I'm not huge into hiphop but I can see this guy going far. He has the passion and the drive to get places. If his hiphop career doesn't take off, I definitely see him becoming a big name producer at some point.

I don't have much time so I only listened to the first one, but as a huge hip hop fan who prides myself on only bumping the good stuff, I gotta say it's not bad at all. It comes across as being genuine, no-nonsense hip hop. Lyrics seemed good, beat was nice, and he has a pretty good voice for it too (he sounds like a black feller). I was expecting it to suck, but it was really pretty good, haha

I'll leave a comment on youtube as well, peace nicka

comic relief was good. first one was kind of weak because he didn't ave a something specific to rap about. it was weak when he talked about school.
