Colonizing
    #11415796 - 11/09/09 12:28 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Hi i inoculated my jars exactly 3 weeks ago, and i just got back from vacation and the substrate is colonizing the only question i got is it ok for it to be sucking in and kinda shrinking away from the sides of the jar and theres water droplets forming on the inside as well. They are almost fully colonized, some jars more than others. I think my problem with that is that it cooled off when i was gone and i left with the temp around 78 and i came back to it at 64...will that affect it negatively? im going to bring the temp back up to around 80. heres some pics:

i cant see the pics but everything sounds fine.
the lower temps will just slow colonization.

Yea it's usually normal for the sucking in. The cake gets smaller as the myc eats up the substrate/food. I think the water droplets are there due to condensation. I know all mine had it.

BTW your pics aren't showing

Everything sounds great and completely normal.

I just finished colonizing 15 jars of WBS at around 66-68f.  Took a little longer (couple days?) but no big deal.

droplets are fine, you just want no standing water in the bottom of the jar

fuel27, it seems that you are using links from your Gmail account.  We probably can't see the pics because you are trying to link back to your gmail.

Save the pictures from your gmail to your computer.  Then upload them to shroomery.

Once you have them uploaded, there's a little link-box underneath them. Click that, it'll automatically copy the link to your clipboard, then paste that link into your post.

Then it'll look like this ->
