I have always had the idea for a "fan" with no moving parts...

a large plastic vortex laid on it's side.
the large open end of it would be positioned against the wind, no matter how slight the breeze; and the inside would be "rifled" to channel the wind directionally.
for every foot of length, the diameter of the tube would be decreased by 1 foot, and therefore increasing the pressure and speed of the incoming air, almost doubling it about every 4 feet.

the increasing pressure would also compress the air as it is forced through the small opening of the oposite end which would effectively cool the air because of the compression of the air molecules as they're squeezed into the opening(significantly depending on the incoming force of the breeze/wind).

it could mainly be used on large construction sites or other similar applications where open air is readily available, and most construction sites, especially commercial are restrictive on available electrical resources.

it would be built with something like, tarp material with a simple wire frame to easily be collapsed and transported.

my intensely detailed blueprints... Patent Pending motherfuckers! lol...

yah, the white noise of a big ass box fan in the room is the only way i can get to sleep. else my mind goes nuts, in the "silence" lol.

everyone always looks at me funny when i say this... but to me, it is louder in a room that is COMPLETELY silent than it is in a room with a fan or a radio going.

i have tinnitus

That sucks huge balls.

I saw MSTRKRFT last Monday in a REALLY small venue, and my ears were ringing for 3 days afterwards.  One of the worst experiences of my life.  I hope I never end up with tinnitus, I would lose my mind.

That's awesome.

I can't stand the fan noise when I'm tryna sleep.

EDIT.. Actually I just watched a video of it.. it sounds like a damn jet engine.

thats crazy!

It has blades, you know. They just moved the blades to inside the base of the unit. They should call it the hidden-blade-fan or something, but that's not as catchy...

That is awesome, if I had 20 of those fans I would most definitely do that.
