Shiitake question
    #11414765 - 11/08/09 10:05 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

If I were to go to Walmart and buy these Shiitake mushrooms can I still cultivate them?

For instance will they still have spores in the bag or in the mushroom from which I could grow my own?

probably not. you for sure wont be able to do a tissue transfer, and a lot of the commercial strians of mushrooms are sporeless so people can't cultivate them. also most suppliers will spore out their mushrooms when they are drying, so when they go into the bag they are all depleted of spores. but i guess you can always try and prove me wrong:laugh:
