Potency
    #11414217 - 11/08/09 09:00 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I know genes have alot to do with potency, ive had flushes that were almost nothing and ive had batches that one or two good caps was enough.

Does the nutrients have a part to play in it or is it just genetics. Should I buy different types of verm and Brf?

it's my understanding the healthier the mushrooms are the better the potency, so yes nutrients are important

No. But the rest of what they said is true^^^. Healthy, happy mushrooms are better.

well that kind of could be untrue
i just bought a huge thing of verm from a nursery which is way different from the kind of usually get
the kind i had been getting before was pretty rock hard but this new stuff i got which seems to be more professional grade it kind of spongy and squishable but looks exactly the same. the reason i think this new kind thats spongy may end up being better is because it seems like it would hold more water

different types of vermiculite do hold different amounts of water, but as far as I know mushrooms don't convert water into psilocybin, etc.

so vermiculite will not affect potency. but different types of brown rice can vary greatly, even within the same brand name.

I dont know what the deal with this was but when I was starting out years ago with pf cakes I couldnt find organic brown rice flour. Instead I found organic rye flour, but was under the impression rye had to be sterilized in a pc. Well I pressure cooked the shit outa these jars and when the fruits came there was no magic at all. Zero.

pretty crazy! I wonder if it was whole grain or not, or treated in some way like bleached flour(I know, organic), weird though.

I have no idea. It was weird. The mushrooms came. They looked great and were a good size and quantity for pf cakes. I could eat a quarter of these things and compare it to 1 gram ordinary cubes. Then I would get regular brf from the organic store, boil the jars and knock em up with the same strain. Good ol regular mushrooms...

It seems people are a little divided when it comes to brf.
