Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Most veterans who saw serious action come down with it. PTSD tends to fuck you up for years or decades, or all your life. Its no picnick, I live with it. (non army related)

Theres probably something more constructive you can do.

If you can't hack it in society, and the army sends you to a conflict zone, you're screwed.

it's a damned good start at a career in a thousand different fields,
electrician is just one of many, unfortunately 'fuck it' is the wrong
way to look at enlistment because it's an 8 year obligation, if you dont
think you're capable of committing to that it's best not to enlist
because if you do and you muster out early it can be devastating in
civilian life... the benefits are pretty good if you stick it out

not the case, some people thrive in those high stress situations, others
are capable of making the adjustment from civi/mil/civi with no issues,
others do end up screwed... it's all about how well the mind handles the
rapid stress load placed on you

Pris what do you know about the navy seal program?  I have 2 more years of college and if I can't find a job within 6 months of graduating in my major I would really consider going that rout b.c my bro was in the navy and liked it, I think it would be good for me to GTFO of my situation also.

man the army is the last option that you want to address when you get desperate in life. A lot of people that go into the army love it, and certainly don't regret it.

However, EVERYONE that I have EVER met that jumped into the army, with the same attitude as you thinking that they will just straighten out your life's problems for you and just because they get tired of "monotony", always regret it.
I grew up in a small town with a very heavy presence of military recruiters, and I assure you that my experience is not fleeting.

please do not just jump in head first thinking that they will just work it out for you; remember the Army, the navy, the marines whatever branch you consider, they are all just a business. Another enterprise looking to get you in their "company" with the promises of all their benefits, greater than all the other "businesses" out there.
but once you step in you are at their mercy... or lack thereof.

My dad was in the Army 20 years, went to Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War.  He actually counseled soldiers suffering from PTSD.  Most of them were mentally fragile to begin with, but the majority of soldiers can handle the situations.  I'd say someone that dabbles in psychedelics would be mentally tougher.

I tried to join the AF, but was denied b/c of a previous health condition, 30% hearing loss in one ear.  They're actually able to be ultra selective right now, so if you have any problems (ie, past record, health issues, bad test scores) they will not take you.

But the Army is a great launch-pad to a successful career in many different paths.  You can get 4 years of college if you're interested in that, and previous service provides you with a "Veteran's Preference" for government jobs after you get out. (You get first look before any civilians applying.)  After you get done serving, if you want a cushy job, working 40 hrs a week, great benefits, and job security, I'd say consider it greatly.  But don't tell the recruiter this is a last resort, show some interest, be proud of your decision, that's what they want.

it's like any other of the special ops, start training now but be well
aware that if you have any sort of record you'll have to be something
amazing to get the security clearances, you'll be privy to secret and
top secret material so they'll crawl up your ass to find the peanuts
