who the hell are you!

So i was at walmart today... I see a lady checking out a Grand Theft Auto 4 for her kid (who can't have been over the age of 12)...for any of you that don't know: very vulgar, violent, "bad" game...so the clerk(a bit too jovial, if you ask me), holds the game up and says to the lady:
"You know this game is rated 'Mature', right?"...
The lady goes:
"Yeah, but, he really wanted it for his birthday, and I'm just now able to get it for him"...
At this, point, had I been a lowly cashier, I would have shrugged and sold her the game...after all, it was SHE who was making the purchase, so I'd have no reason to refuse it (not like it was alcohol)...
HOWEVER...that's not what she did...she was LIVID!...she goes off on the lady in the loudest, ghetto-mom-ish manner she could muster:
"ARE YOU CRAZY? HAVE YOU LOST YA MIND? THIS GAME IS FOR ADULTS, THAT'S YO CHILDREN, blah, blah, yakkety-yak..."
The lady looks taken aback, but instead of retaliating/complaining, the most amazing thing happens- she turns to her kid and says:
"You can't have this game...not until you're older"... And they leave the store...
Do you think the cashier was in the right?

Fuck no. Fuck that bullshit! I would have slapped that bitch and got her fired for telling me how to raise my child...
People need to just shut their mouths...
It aint that bad a game. I mean, since playing it (age 10, maybe 11) i've only killed 4 puppies, 8 kittens, and the retard boy from down the street. Hit him with the car i stole

How? Was it right for her to say "Mam, this is rated mature, are you sure you want this for your child?" but anything further is not her buisness. Some bitch starts screamin at me i'd just leave and lie to my kid that i aint gettin it for him to. She prolly went to game stop from now on...

First off,

You can't do that. You are fucking SERVICE PERSONNEL. You serve the customer and they through their purchases pay your living. You are to behave well and decently and hold the higher moral ground in case of dispute. In short, you're a servant, end of story.
That said, no, she shouldnt have sold the game. Grand Theft Auto 4 is NOT good for a twelve year old, thats why the mature rating is there. You might as well rent the kid a porno.
Not appropriate.
The cashier should have remained polite and from a respectful attitude pointed the mother to her parental responsibilities.

No, thats a technicality. She wasnt gonna play the game, it was for the kid and its not good for the kid.
Its not good for the kid to see his mom getting shit like she got also, it undermines her parental authority.
So.. stay polite, don't sell the game.

If I were the manager of that store, I'd bitch-slap that clerk, give her a can of pork-and-beans, stick an apple in her big mouth and kick her in the butt out the door.

Violent video games do not harm children. Virtual violence helps get stress out and makes you much more mellow.
They need to get rid of these bogus ratings.
If I was there I would have shot that bitch.

Violent video games don't make kids violent, It's usually bad parenting that does that.

bullshit
certain games I would agree with you but GTA is a criminal simulation
its refreshing to hear of someone standing up and saying whats right despite what society has told her, her role is in customer service
looks like she had an impact as well
kudos to her

Almost the same thing happened to me when I was about 13-14 when GTA:3 came out. The lady behind us in the line went off on my mom, and she didn't get it for me. I was fucking pissed!

it definitely depends on the person but a person who is already predisposed to violent behavior or fantasies is going to get further lulled into those desires while playing a game like GTA

Oh btw, I played violent video games since Doom came out when I was like 5, and I am the most passive person you have ever met.

Thats your opinion. Violent video games enable a kid to virtually engage in violence. The kid spends a dozen or so hours a week engaged in simulated violence. Why does the US Army make their recruiting commercials look like video games? They're not stupid. They know plenty of teens want to graduate from the screen to the real thing.

Kids need exhausting physical activity to mellow them out, not sitting in a chair sitting in a stressed state of increased alertness for hours on end trying to win a game.
