would thist work?
    #11412403 - 11/08/09 06:43 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

i was filling my fish tank today and noticed that i use something called neutral regulator by seachem, it makes the water a perfect 7.0 PH.

does anyone have any experience with this product ? or does anyone have any input on using this product?

i think it may be useful for many things but primarily for peat casings and coir substrates since they seem to go acidic quickly and that will stall growth!

Calcium Carbonate is good for what you are talking about, I'm not sure about the product you mention, what chemicals are listed in the ingredients?
inski..

i had read that it does, some people even use the reptile sand made from it right? just looking into a possibly stronger buffer, the main chemical in NR is monosodium phosphate.

i know its acidic in nature but it obviously does a pretty good job of taking acidic conditions and neutralizing them, my tap water is acidic and a 1/4 tsp of it makes 5 gals h2o 7.0 ph

Yes, I read that monosodium phosphate in combination with other sodium phosphates is used as a pH buffer, I'm not sure how good it would be to use with mushroom culture as it is an inorganic chemical, an organic alternative would be better!
