Which of us is the "monster?"
    #11410406 - 11/08/09 10:26 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

I was coming home on a 3 hour drive this morning and me and my friend run into a little traffic on the high way.  We slowly roll past the scene of an accident where a deer was struck by a car and the deer was lying in the street all twisted and STILL BREATHING.  I say to my friend, "god damn I wish I had my knife I'd get out and kill that thing."  My friend looks over at me and says "wow dude you would seriously kill that animal?  You're a monster."

Now, we both disagree here, if I were to have hopped out and sliced its throat in my head I'd be doing the humane thing, letting it suffer= being the monster.  Who is right?  I feel like I am obviously.

Did you guys talk about it afterwards?  I need some
elaboration, I really don't see why your friend would
say that at all.

I mean, I'm sure you said something like, "Are you
serious?  That poor animal needs to be put out of
it's misery, it's suffering!"  to which your friend
replied....

see, I bring this up here because there has been multiple times this has happened and when I take care of it- for example, recently I had to kill a mouse because my cat was torturing it in front of my whole family.  They're just watching my cat gnaw at this mouse but when I picked it up in a bag and slammed it into the wall, they all looked at me like I'm a bad person-  I don't give a fuck I'm just curious what most people would do though

My friend had to slit the throat of deer once.  It had a broken hip and was in alot of pain... so he did it without thinking about it...

Your not a monster!

his reply was actually this:  "So you mean to say that if you had your knife with you, you would slit it's throat right here?"  which I replied to with "Of course the things fuckin suffering."  Then we just went on to talk about how interesting this weekend has been, such a good weekend.

i think it would be totally justified if you
did put the deer out of its misery
i am the kind of person that hates to see an animal
or anything for that matter suffer
i would have thought the same thing as you did
what are your friends views on hunting?

yeah i would end the suffering.  but then again me and my friends always joke about being a man, and catching a deer by hiding in a tree and dropping down on its back while cutting its throat all in one motion.

if you can do that with a bear then your arguably better than chuck norris.

as the drive went on we started joking about it(like everything) and he goes "Well... What would jesus do in this situation?... he would probably kill it actually..."  which I responded with: "He would kill it? You're a fucking retard he would resurrect it he wouldn't kill it lol."

(I don't believe in that sky fairy we were just bullshitting)

a few years ago some lady hit one that was crossing the interstate, I saw
it and stopped, I put the deer down and the lady flipped because I 'shot
it in cold blood', why couldnt the deer have hit the woman instead, I bet
the deer wouldnt have whined about me putting a bullet in that bitch

cops got there and explained that I did the only humane thing, apparently
she was under the impression that they'd load it into a bone box and take
it to a hospital to be saved

If I had a pistol, given that situation, I'd give it a head shot. No hesitation, no remorse.

The road forked to two places for the poor animal, a slow agonizing death with people watching or a clean end of suffering.

I'm a meat eater, and with it a willing, knowing accomplice in the ongoing Animal Holocaust. A headshot would be a clean instantaneous mercy kill guaranteed to work with the skills I have. With a knife I would at least hesitate because theres suffering involved, and the serious risk to botch the job and leave bambi writhing in a pool of blood and me writhing with an antler up my nutsack.

If I could deliver a clean mercy kill in that situation I'd do it, yes, even though my conscience probably would get on my case about it after the fact.

...if someone objects to me referring to an "Animal Holocaust" or if anyone wonders about the story behind your leather belt, the meat on your plate and what happens if you leave your outdoor cat un-neutered, please watch the following movie.

Its a full feature movie (1:35 hour) regarding the realities of the relationship of modern humanity with the animals around us. You can watch the first 10 minutes and get the gist without the naked facts.

Warning: very graphic imagery. If you are a person of averagely developed conscience or higher, this to some degree will change your life. Several people PM-ed me that they became vegetarians overnight from clicking this vid in my links section.
