Yeah, there wasn't really even anything to animate until halfway into the movie...

There wasn't a whole lot of animating to that movie.
I saw it today, and I was incredibly disappointed. Too scary for theatres my ass. I can't believe I wasted 8 bucks on that.

I feel the same way, it had potential but they blew it. Nothing even happened until more than halfway into the movie, sigh.
Oh well, they spent $15,000 making the movie and made millions off of it, bastards.

Nah, just insane luck. I will admit it wasn't bad for the budget and time frame they had for making it but it got way overhyped thus making people think it was some extraordinary movie.

I highly doubt it was really being restricted from theaters(though I haven't seen it)
it was just a gimmick I'm sure

Restricted? No, it was just released in 13 different college towns and 12 of them got sold out so they found more cities they thought it might become popular in and it did so they just kept expanding it to more theaters until it became as big as it is/was.

Not luck. It's called proper business. Hype is generated by a limited release. There was no real trailer to speak of, just reactions with a few tiny bits of the movie cut in. The hype from the limited release sparks curiosity in the rest of the nation, in turn causing a huge uproar to bring the movie to the masses. After much hype, the movie is finally released and everyone can spend their money on it. They could have EASILY gone with national release, but they chose for a limited release to start with. It's all part of the marketing... all part of the marketing...

You're missing the point, the movie was nothing great, if I had to choose between spending $10 on it or buying a fish I probably would have chosen the latter.
There were loud noises, a door moving, a girl sleep walking and a guy being thrown against the wall. Luckily, I went and saw Zombieland right after. Completely made up for it.

Not once did I say it was a GOOD movie... But due to hype you did spend your money on it, so their marketing campaign worked.
