not really. there isnt anything about it thats totally crazy. i find when im drinking absinthe its a little more mellow, relaxed kind of intoxication. that could just be the mood though. i really only drink absinthe on a chill night. it doesnt lend itself very well to keggers

where are you ordering this from? you dont need to have it shipped from SW. i buy it in philly at the local liquor store. usually you can just ask them to order it for you.

usually i dont trust anything that advertises the amount of thujone. it seems like its a lot more of a gimick.

i had Vert-Suisse and Kubler the last time i was in geneva. thats what got me hooked. i highly recommend both. Pernod is very good also, i just prefer the others. Lucid is shit (they fall into the gimick-y category). i cant remember the names of anything else ive seen in the store. there is probably more crap out there than quality stuff. read reviews before you get anything.

As far as thujone content - from my understanding, if the absinthe had enough thujone in it for you to have any sort of noticeable effect, you would probably pass out first from the booze. As stated above, enjoy it more as something special and do the whole ritual (slotted spoon, sugar cube, etc.)

I plan on doing it some day when I have the cash.

its a very nice drink for christmas time sitting around the table just relaxing. keep in mind though that most people really dont like it . its a little bit of an aquired taste. i dont know many others that like it.

as for the ritual of it, try it out and see what works best for your taste. i dont usually add sugar and my water has to be really cold. others want sugar and warm water. its up to you.

in the old days you would order absinthe, the server would bring you a glass with absinthe, a spoon, sugar cube, and a water fountain. it was left to you to decide how you take it.

The taste is really bad. Shots almost make me throw up. Although there are ways to prepare it so it tastes good. Particularly good in cocktails. Best quality it has is that it gets you completely smashed very quickly. Best absinthe Ive tried was Russian. It wasn't green, it was actually black and almost thick. Loaded with wormwood. There did seem to be something other drunkenness going on as well. A kind of nice relaxing effect which could of been the wormwood.

i like the ritual of it. it is def a different type of drink. you cant approach it the same way.

and yeah i would expect shots would make you throw up. hehe. if youre not going to dilute it then sip it from a brandy snifter. take it slow and enjoy yourself.
