What is this?
    #11407623 - 11/07/09 10:24 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat:
Woods, in a mulch area under a rotten log

Gills:
gills were orange/brown

Stem:
ranged, seemed like some stems were short becuase there was weight on top of the cap. Pretty thick stems overall

Cap:
some caps were flat saucer looking and some were bell looking and looked like they stopped opening becuase you could see inside the cap even though it looked closed

Spore print color:
Could barely get one but they printed brown

Bruising:
All the stems were purple. They were white and everywhere you pinched/broke turned purple. The caps were white tho

Other information:
scent was kind of sweet. I cut one of the caps in half and the whole cut turned purple

Your welcome, I really like photographing Cortinarius species, they can be quite spectacular, you should see if you can find more and take some pictures of the different stages of growth!
inski..
