Little Yield? What could be the problem?

Afoaf cased some EQ's. The temp was always between 72-78. The humidity seemed perfect. (Used perlite) The casings only yeilded about 5 mushrooms. Any ideas why? Could it be the temp? Or maybe the layer of substrate was too thin? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What casing material did you use, what substrate did you use, how much substrate did you use, how long has it been fruting, did you have an even-pinset? I mean seriously man, if you want us to help you, you need to help us. :wink:

Ok, for the substrate I used brf. For casing he used a layer of vermiculite on the bottom and another layer on the top. After he cased he incubated it until he could see mycelium growing through the valley's. Then he put it in the terrarium. Started seeing a pin or 2 about 6 days later. Only 5 mushrooms grow. What could he have done wrong?

sounds like you did nothing wrong. maybe too little humidity during pinning stage. but sometimes thats just how the cookie crumbles. ive had casings only produce one monsterous fruit. the second flush should treat you better.

you may not have had a thick enough casings layer...
You should try spawining some compost or dung you'll get great yeilds like that and it's really no harder than casing.

What was the lighting? Any misting? How many BRF cakes were used? Any fanning?
