ID PREASE!
    #11399062 - 11/06/09 03:08 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Habitat:
open grassy field, about 2 meters from a line of pine trees.

Gills:
white, attached, close together.

Stem:
4in height, 1in diameter, solid, white

Cap:
2-3in diameter, yellow-orange, dry rubbery texture, mostly flat or concave.

Spore print color:
white

Bruising:
none

Other information:
no smell, others growing nearby that orange, some that are redish, there were more red ones last week, but now there are mostly these.
I want to know if they are amanita muscaria. the ones I picked last week worked, and I am not dead so I assume they were, but since these ones look a bit different I want to make sure they aren't a deadly variety. thanks a bunch!

I know they are some kind of amanita, but I just want to make sure they aren't death caps or destroying angels or some shit. I really don't want to die.

They do to me, even though I can't see the stem base. The caps can fade to entirely white.

Not something you'd want to try though. You'd have a better time huffing gas.

I did not know that. Thank you, I will keep this in mind. Also, are they too far past their prime at this point?

Those are Amanita amerimuscaria.  Just faded out a bit.

When photographing Amanitas, make sure you get good pictures of the stem base.

Thanks, I was pretty sure they were muscaria, but anyway, I have kinda let them sit in a plastic bag overnight, and now the bag smells terrible and there are soggy brown spots on them, I think I should go pick some more. lol. I wonder why they went bad so quick though

never store fresh mushrooms, especially those with a lot of water in them in a non-breathable, sealed container or bag.

So. I picked a bunch more, we dried them out in the oven, and we blended them up, giving me a bunch of brown powder, we each put half a tablespoon of this and made tea with it, added some honey, it didn't taste half bad. I had a second cup, but neither of my friends did. After about an hour we notice the effects. I ended up soaking all my clothes in sweat, and I was super cold, as well as making my vision blurry, I had a lot of great visuals, but I didn't really like it nearly as much as my first time. I have about half a cup of the brown powder left but I am just gonna give it away or something.
