Uncontrolled rage over nothing
    #11403467 - 11/07/09 11:58 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Was at the racquetball courts last night and sitting on the bleachers between games, when this guy goes totally ballistic and smashes his racquet into the wall and floor a half-dozen times while yelling and cursing until it has splintered into tiny pieces.

Every time I see this player, he is pleasant and has a nice smile for everyone.

Later, when he cooled down, I asked him what was the problem. "I kept skipping (hitting the floor and losing the point) all of my shots. Stupid, fucking, piece-of-shit racquet!"

It was an expensive top-of-the line racquet.

I said to myself, "Hmmm, the ball follows the laws of physics and geometry, so why not just change the angle you are hitting at? Aim a little higher, dude. Perhaps there are deeper issues at play..." :strokebeard:

Of course, this sort of acting out precludes any learning on his part whatsoever.

this must be going around because a friend of mine had someone flip out on her for almost no reason the other day as well. some people are just delicately and freakishly balancing on the cuckoo fence all the time apparently. it is a bit of a shame labotomies are illegal in most places.

It's probably because he's so tired of holding in all of his inner-rage

Simple neurotic behavior. That's what's wrong with all of us imo. Wanting actual experience to conform to our desires of how life "ought" to be.

Jealousy, I think it was. :yoda:

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.
