did not get many pics as I had no battery juice for the hunt...
first blewit found:

Suspected macrolepiota procera (confirmation appreciated):

Total finds for the day:

(note the scaly stalk on the macrolepiota)

All found this afternoon shortly before dark within walking distance from my home here in Berlin. :yesnod:

-any suggestions on how I should cook these?

Most people suggest you sautee them with meats because the meats accompany their peppery flavor well.

:awesome: Nice man, the season just started here. I am looking forward to finding some.
Last year was good for them. I am hoping this year is the same.

thanks, I ended up cooking em with some chicken tomato wine and herbs - good stuff

they really do smell like orange juice concentrate though, that's so wild. It seems a lot of the clitocybes have really noticeable smells associated with them.

These were found in a pine plantation, a habitat I usually don't like hunting in because it's so unnatural - glad I did tonight though :smirk:

anyone have any say on the lepiota? German Kahuna? I'm pretty sure its M. procera but I'm right shit at lepiota identification

Nice job, our season is officially over in Estonia, we had a few days of hard frost (was pretty cool though to see all of the mushrooms frozen just they way are) followed by a decent amount of snow. On my last hunt I took a bunch of photos and will post them as soon as I get a chance to edit them. I've got some nice Blewits and a couple of Macrolepiotas too. Nice finds!

"...I found dozens of single specimens.  That's what I call hunting.  There are only a few "good" hunters here, even now.  You're certainly in that group.  I would imagine if we hunted together we'd find our styles are similar."
- Mr. Mushrooms

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.

Slicing the caps up and sautéing them in butter with fresh ground pepper and salt.

Sorry, missed that. It was leaf litter in a deciduous forest. Lots of Amanita muscaria and Armillaria around as well. We've actually been there together.

It was 50 meters behind this place:
