Pins in jars, not fully colonized
    #11402963 - 11/07/09 09:53 AM (8 years, 9 months ago)

I'm not sure what happened, but I have some jars about 95-98% done, and they have pins showing on the sides of them. Should I birth them? Maybe just not in the same FC as my others as they may contam? Do I cut off the uncolonized part? Any advice is welcome.

Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.

I would leave them grow invitro (in the jar), they will just grow inside the jar and by the time they are mature the jar will probably be 100% done.

I was told to rinse or cut of uncolonized part of cake and birth.  If you can try to save the pins from falling off.I am not sure if you are supposed to dunk and roll if you already have pins on your cake, maybe someone else can chime in?

I would like to know myself.  But... the cakes started pinning for some reason.  Too much air exchange or contam or something else.

I had the same problem.  I just let it sit until they hit 100%.  I didn't give it the week for consolidation, though.  I got a first flush very quickly but it was pretty weak.

Did he dream about dragons? Did he dream about deer? Did he whisper  he names of friends who were near?
What songs did they play, and how far away? Why did he whisper, why did she scream?
What does the sound of a screen door mean?
Who talks on the hill? Who goes to the cellar, can you feel the chill? Where does the river, when will the wind?
How far are the mountains? Where do they end? Why would the church?
Did the service begin? Tell me who died, and tell me who cried.
Help me hide in the skin of a deer, my zippered-up bag in the mouth of a stag so swiftly I go through rows of does,
it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows all over the hill where the green grass grows.
