Hopefully it's what i'm thinking

i found these growing in 2 small clusters of about 5 or 6 in a hole at the base of a rotting tree
cap:
bright yellow, brown scales, young mushrooms have steeply conical caps

Stem:
Bright yellow, just like the cap, smaller at top, bulging at bottom, no volva, remnants of a veil (ring under cap), the bottom of the stem where it was growing is pretty rounded, solid and pretty strong

Gills:
yellow, crowded

Working on a spore print and i havn't noticed any bruising yet, i will check later
I am not an expert but i'm almost positive these are an active gymnopilus species
BUT
I'm not an expert and i might be wrong so i want an expert opinion before i go eating them
i also found hundreds of smaller white mushrooms growing on the same stump, i will post a seperate topic for them later, i think they may bruise blue but i'm not sure yet i have to look at them better

Sounds more like Pholiota sp. to me.

yeah i think it is a pholiota i am not sure if its bruising or just the color but i think the stem bruisis brown and from what i have seen the gills and cap don't bruise, or at least not easily

The caps had spores or dust on the outside that left yellow residue on my hands, also sorry about the bad pics i will retake some if needed later

Could be Hypholoma fasciculare.

I think they sorta look and sound kinda like Leucocoprinus birnbaumii.
do they look something like this

They look almost like that except i can't find any older mushrooms to tell if teh caps get broader and the ones i found were alot brighter yellow, they are not hypholoma fasciculare, i have plenty of those growing in my yard and they don't have the scales & the ones in the pics don't have the greenish tint to the gills and they smell different than hypholoma fasciculare
I will go check on the leucocoprinus sp i think that might be what they are

I looked into it and it is most likely leucocoprinus birnbaumii
