Alright, i have an old dishwasher which has an interal space of 2feet across, about 2.5 feet high, and 2 feet deep. Would it be feasable to put peralite on the bottom, and fruit on the top and bottom retractable shelves? Ill be doing 4 casings if that makes a difference. I would fan several times a day.

It sure might be feasible.
Maybe you could put some wet perlite in the bottom of it, and check the humidity later. If it's right, then, yeah, you could use it.
Bleach it out, put a little floro light in it, hook up a coolmist, could be a damn slick little unit.
There was an old fridge someone dumped that gave me the same sort of idea...

Depending on how hot it gets, the dishwasher might also be put on the dry cycle to sterilize itself and things inside of it...could be a very interesting setup

I think you would need a much higher temperature to sterilize stuff inside of it

Anyways..ive gotta get a humidity meter....where can i get one (walmart?) and for how much?...and how about a coolmist vaporizer? Thanks for all the posts

Ok ihad to fucking retype this Anyhow, get a hygrometer from radioshak.. More expensive, but more acc. and better quality. ($40) Im far from a pro but your question is an easy one to answer... The dishwasher sealing completely is not a bad thing at all,.. on the contrary this is a very disirable trait for terr's. Fan 3 times a day if possible

i had ripped the heating element from a dishwasher and installed it in the bottom of a metal beer keg. i cut the top from the keg first of course. this was to be a pasturizing machine. looking at this dishwasher i thought i might as well keep the pumps and such for further use. after looking at this thing with no guts i realized i can mount it on top of the beer keg with much ease. there was already a perfect size hole in the bottom of the plastic hull of the dishwasher. the box was sealed other than that hole. im gonna read up a bit on steam pasturizing and maybe stick another element in the keg but i think my new steam pasturizing machine is gonna be pretty cool.
