Hi Shroomers,
Can anyone tell me if these are Amanita Muscaria? Photographed in woodland the other day.
Cheers

not sure..... i have both but am yet to try shrooms
Libs contain psilocybin where as aminita's do not..... so the trip will definitely be different. Aminitas are pretty unpredictable and need to be prepared correctly so make sure you do your research first.

They are not "Magic Mushrooms". They won't make you trip like libs. Amanita muscaria is used as a deliriant. Not pleasant in my eyes at all.

My friend ate A>M and it apparently to quote: "fucked him up". It didn't sound too great the way he'd described it..

I didn't enjoy myself too much when I tried it. I am not a big fan of projectile vomiting. But to each their own. I think I wasn't patient enough preparing it.

I wouldn't recommend eating them. If psilocybin containing mushrooms didn't exist, I don't think Amanitas would even be considered. It's a sort of groovy-by-association myth that headshops have propagated to get kids to buy their legal bunk, imo.
Don't be fooled by all the folklore and the pagan this and that. The most that people usually get from them is sickness, paranoia and sweating.

Well, to be fair, the use of Amanita muscaria in shamanic ceremonies is thousands of years old. But not everything that gets you fucked up is an enjoyable experience, IMHO.

There's also a video on youtube of a shaman eating a death cap.
:|
My guess is that these shaman have built up terrific tolerances to amanitin-related compounds and muscimol, but that's just a guess. I think Joe Bloggs is going to feel quite agrieved eating an amanita.

Hi All, I used to do Psilly's as I call them (coz they make you silly) in the early 80's mainly when in the UK they weren't illegal - now it's illegal to posess them since 2005. But I had a lot of good times on psilocybin, but did have some bad trips latter on. Music always sounds much more intense and electric on them.
I did hear that the Amanita Muscaria is more like a flying dream but have never ingested.
I saw this Shamen eatin the raw Amanita - can't be good for the liver!

In studying Anthropology i did learn about how muscaria were often consumed by Eastern European peasants during the 17th and 18th century, as well as how they were used by Berserkers. Also recently read on shroomery about a finnish guy, who's brother ate two large caps, and his description sounds absolutely awful. The kid was weeping, throwing bottles, yelling, fighting, spinning around, dropping in and out of comas. Really. didnt sound fun..

Well I mean eating 2 fresh Fly Agaric is stupidity really, especially when you've no experience of it. For a start the potency is meant to be much more varied from mushroom to mushroom in comparison to Psilocybin and they have stronger effects of nausea and so on. The Berserker myth could be just that a myth there is no proof vikings did use them.

Do A.M smell peppery? I seem to remember collecting some one time and i just can't get the smell out of my head. Maybe its a smell from another time, but it seems to be linked to AM. yuck! Afterwards i buried it in my garden, but it died..

Me neither. I'd like to think if anyone DID try eating a death cap then natural selection would come into play.

Yes the A. M. 's have a strong peppery seasoning smell and taste when dried, apparently it is an excellent seasoning for food if prepared correctly and used in small amounts...according to this:
http://www.shroomery.org/8667/Amanita-muscaria-A-New-Outlook
Can be used as a mild pick me-up!
