If you could change or alter a pre-conditioned belief, what would it be?
    #11388216 - 11/04/09 10:41 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

1. God
2. That my mind is my self.

If you dont know what a preconditioned belief is, you need not reply.

Id like to get rid of all of them, I think.  Id like to wake up every morning and completely reevaluate my entire belief system.  Cant feasibly do that though, but it would be nice and its good to keep in mind.

God = Mind

Thus question out of the question.

What the hell is a 'pre-conditioned' belief?

Seriously, you said I need not reply, but I would like an answer as the concept makes no sense to me.

I'm not even sure what 'pre-conceived' means either? How can any concept be held in mind before being conceived of? Makes no god damn sense!

It is as you seem to describe because your conclusion of the question seems to form an argument that is of an understanding in the concept, pre-conditioned.

I would like to hear your response.

Think habit and apply habit to thought. This is what a pre-conditioned belief means.

That might do it.

Words are sensory impressions, so I could both agree to use that term with you or not, without loosing anything - its simple, they do not reflect reality, unless two people understand the meaning behind sensory impressions holds.

Now that you understand the goal of this thread - sharing is caring.

Interesting life experiences. I would not delve in psychdelics to deeply, they take your mind to places that are hardly easily discernable from more applicable findings. However, I do enjoy them from time to time, to freshen up new findings and explore old beliefs...other than that, they take you too far away from where we usually are when we are sober.

BTW - the part about psychoses is interesting, because it describes a part of my life, similairly. I change my beliefs very rapidly, they are but toys of the mind, why not discard them when they are boring. I guesse its because I do not make identities anymore, I think they are useless...I like knowing my skills and enjoying life, taking changes, like medicine for my life.

So you have no real strong beliefs that you cannot undue, which you would otherwise want undone?

I'd alter my preconditioned belief of social hierarchy.

I would be able to talk to a hobo and a king and see them with the same eyes.

Why wouldnt you?

Everyone should be equal, social hierarchy is a construct in the mind's of the people. If everyone's mind were whipped clean of it no one would be able to say "Im better than you because of...."

Mister muscaria - I do not think it is possible to see a kind and hobo in the same eyes, in this life. Simply put, our perception is shaped by our goals and beliefs about which goals are most viable. If you have the goal, conditioned or not, to gain resources, saftey and longevity, the king would be able to help you way better than a hobo and your perception will be different because of that. I cannot yet see why it wouldnt, care to share?

Rebus Minus - Thats disappointing. I wish I could control all my motivations, my drives towards goals. That is the ultimate outcome of not having any preconditioned beliefs, being able to control your emotional motivations towards a goal.
