Getting the most out of my spawn...
    #11394672 - 11/06/09 12:22 AM (7 years, 11 months ago)

So I recently bought some of those empty sterilizable spawn bags (like these:  http://www.themadseason.com/emptybags.asp)...I filled one up with some cracked corn (and a little verm), about 10 quarts or so.  Then I spawned a fully colonized jar of grain into the bag...and it's doing pretty well actually.

Initially I was planning on spawning this whole bag of corn to straw, but now I'm starting to wonder if I can split this bag into two, and spawn it into two separate tubs.  What is the standard for 50 gal tubs, assuming ~6" high w/ straw? - I figured 7 quarts of spawn is ideal, but if I can get along with 5 then that's what I'll be doing (instead of using all 10 for one tub).  I've never done this before so any insight would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks.

it's in the same family of chemicals as DDT and PCBs.
Don't worry, it’s not DDT, it’s “DDT-Lite!”

a 1:6 RATIO is as high as you should go
that 1 part spawn to six parts bulk

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.
