Silica Gel in Packets?

I worked at an event where we gave away free stuff.  In all the packages was a little silica gel packet and i was wondering... if i want to put these in my mush bags for storage can i heat them to re-dry them in the little plastic package they are in or should i remove the beads from the plastic before heating?  Also, i have a dehydrator... would it be better to put them in there or the oven? I did a little search but i could only find people asking about just the beads not the packets themselves.

yeah i just throw my packets in the oven on "warm" for 15 min whenever they feel used up.

So does anyone think a dehydrator will work or do i really need more heat?  I think my oven will be around 150 on low.  I have a nesco so i think it goes to about that...  I put a few of the packets in there with some mushies but it's only on about 120.  I can always pump it up but usually i try to avoid anything over 130 or 140 for the mushies as i can start to smell them pretty strong which i don't think my roomies would appreciate.
