Liberty Cap ID? (UK)
    #11392040 - 11/05/09 06:17 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Went picking for the first time the other day with a few friends, we're having trouble identifying what we've got though.  These mushrooms are the closest we think we have to Liberty caps but we're still unsure.

Habitat:  Found them in the middle of a field freaquently used by cows.  The field is on a slope that i think is facing south and had fairly short grass.

Gills: The gills seem to be dark in colour, going from dark brown at the base to lighter brown/grey.

Stem: I'm unsure how long the stems were since it was my friend who picked them, they were white-ish, about 2mm in diameter and have gone dark since being bruised.  From what uncrushed stem i have it appears to be hollow.

Cap:They are about 1.5-2 cm in diameter, were originally darker in colour but have lighted as they began drying.  There appears to be a very thin skin over the cap but it doesn't peel off very well.

Spore print color:The spore print is very dark, looks like dark brown but it is hard to tell..

Bruising:
As far as i can tell they aren't bruising blue, but they are darker and get a little dark around the edge.
