anyone ever buy a coat for their dog?
    #11391536 - 11/05/09 03:01 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

anyone ever buy coats for their dogs? i went online to look at some and there are so many to choose from. i found some that looked realy good....but they didnt cover their legs. then i found some that covered the legs, like a body suit, but realy didnt look as good as others. im googling like mad, but just wana know if anyone has any recomendations.

gota be water resistan/proof. there are plenty of fleece type things, but i want something i can go camping with my dog with u know. any info greatly appreciated. otherwise....ill just as well do my research and figure it out

like there are these....
http://www.k9topcoat.com/product.asp?specific=103

but they look like they gona hella take in some rain even tho it says otherwise......
even this looks questionable even tho specificaly waterproof....
http://www.k9topcoat.com/product.asp?specific=105

this one looks pretty good
http://www.k9topcoat.com/product.asp?specific=161

but these look and sound prety hardcore, but no leg protection....
maybe i guess i could get both but...yea just wonderin what yall think
http://www.dogcoat.com/index.php?id=3
my dog looks just like this so.....

i would think a body suit would be better....but those other ones look real thick and sturdy.  im still gona do my research, maybe get a couple of kinds or something.......proly all ill ask for if im getin anything for christmas.
but just wonderin if any of u kats know anything about dog coats.

When I lived in MN I had some for my dog. They really need it when it gets in the negative temperatures.

Yea, imo if you live somewhere that gets cold enough to warrant this, choose a dog with a thick fur coat and it'll be fine.

I don't think any dog would ever be comfortable wearing coats anyways.

i bought my dog a vest kinda like this:

the one he has is nylon outside for the rain/snow. the inside is all fleece.

only reason i got this is cause im not allowed to have dogs in the apartment. told management he was a service dog. they never asked any questions

I don't think your dog or any dog wants to be dressed up, let alone get its balls cut off and be forced to live a mundane life of 'domesticated' monotony inside a house.'

Some PETA chicks thought my dog was wearing a fur coat once, and they threw red paint on him...

where do u live?  florida?  alaska?  somewhere where the weather never changes?
i live in new york.  with ur logic, wouldnt it be just as silly to get a dog with a thick fur coat so as they can suffer in 90 plus sometimes 100 plus weather for a good part of the year?
unless u live somewhere that is always the same temperature more or less......that rational is out the window

I live in Toronto now, but I lived most of my life in semi-north Ontario.
My dogs were always something with husky, german sheppard, or the like in their blood, so they had a nice thick coat.
edit: durring summer the dog sheds most of its fur- but sure he still pants some when hes up in it.

I did buy my dog boots once.  We took her on a vacation to the snow, she didnt mind the temperature (scottish terrier) but her feet got really cold and turned a weird color.  So after warming her feet up I went and bought some boots, then she was right as rain

my dog likes it when its cold out. hes a little mini schnauzer. maybe about 13lbs and his hair is cut pretty short. he freezes if he doesnt have it on.

i used my old hoodies for my dogs..whats cooler than your dog rocking out a zappa or stones coat/shirt.

my gf make tye die on the side and the dogs seem to tolerate them..

there's actually lot of people making money doing this hit.
