Ultrasonic Fogger Setup: Post em if you got em!
    #11391697 - 11/05/09 05:22 PM (8 years, 15 days ago)

An old setup of the past. Worked like a charm. Thinking people post their old or new setups to get some ideas for a future build.

Quote:

1) clear box tape- 6 pack 12$
2) pvc piping for a room lets say 10x13. 100$ or under a bit. go with 1/2" pvc piping.
3) sewer hose-10$ for 20 feet. get two boxes just in case. so 20$
4) 5 gallon paint bucket and lid. 5$.
5) 5ml clear or black plastic get 3 rolls or so. lets say these are 10$ each. so 30$.
6) a room size hepa with built in ionizer from walmart. 30$. you could get a cage fan but its not needed. the hepa will give you enough output on a 20 minutes every two hour run cycle.
7) clear rubbermaid that will fit your hepa. 10$
8) ultrasonic pond fogger with floating devide. 50$.
http://www.mainlandmart.com/foggers.html
9) intermatic timer and some extension chords if needed. 25$.
http://www.intermatic.com/Default.asp?action=prod&pid=203&did=5&cid=43&sid=114

10) if you have a window you can use natural daylight. but if you want get some cheap fluorescent lighting. so add 30$.
Total Cost around 300-315$. And this is for a roomsize setup. May vary a bit depending on size of room and how much pvc piping you need to buy but some of these esitmations are over a bit. foaf got away with 200$ flat for a 10x13 room. but this was years ago when things were cheaper.

finally found some old pics of my rig.
this one fogger unit has 6 total greenhouses setup to it. 4 greenhouses and 2 martha stuart closets.
this is for reference from the above illustration i had on a previous post.

you can see the hepa unit attached to the box to the left. this is pushing hepa filtered air into the 5 gallon bucket. this 5 gallon bucket has the ultrasonic fogger in it. it is then pumped out through the sewer hose into the greenhouses. rh is regulated at valve opening into each martha stuart closet rigged to it. also intermatic timer on the wall. i don't recall the name of the black splitter for the sewer hose. but it should be available at home depot near the venting and heating section. or near sewer hose at walmart or the rv section. you may have to search but there are even trap door valves that sit right at the point of entry of each martha.
also below are some other methods used in the past for rigging up humidity to chambers and such.

here you can see the greyish attachment for the back of the chamber. just look around you can find these things at hardware stores.

a side view of the shelving in a martha stuart with some flatcakes.

the rig was running these cat litter trays like this. 2 per shelf.

there were 6 greenhouses hooked up to this one fogger unit. 2 marthas and 4 2shelf greenhouses.

results

i still find tub growing to be less work. always fixing things on setups like this. having to dial them in. things always go wrong.

here are some really old automated setups from the past. for ideas.

nice one citizen! got anymore shots of the hookup to each tub? were you running the entire bottoms of each tub with substrate or placing trays inside?

this info is kinda old. you can probably get away with a much smaller budget than this. using plastic shelving. but just cheap for a whole room setup. you don't even need the pvc piping for the grow room framework. you can tape the black plastic directly to the walls.

im going to be filling the bottom of each tub with 5 inch of rye/coir substrate.

that white bucket on the right is a resevoir tank thats gravity fed so i dont have to fill up that often, and the orange bucket on the bottom is actually a drip chamber so that the drips have a place to go rather then building up in the tubes and doing that annoying "gurglegurglegurgle" thing.

ill update when i start spawning the colonized sub this weekend.

i actually got this idea a long time ago when i used to run a homemade greenhouse to a similar humidifier, and i ran out of shelves to put trays on, so i borrowed one of the outlets and piped it over to a tub like you see in that picture. well the tub blew up. almost a lb dry after everything was said and done.

so i said "hey lets do this on a much larger scale, and nix the greenhouse all together"

this will be my first run with this many tubs at once. *crosses fingers*

i strongly considered doing this to the closet, but i'm afraid of my walls molding. as it is i have plastic taped up anyways and the room painted in anti-fungal paint.

im a bit paranoid sometimes, i once had to tear out all the walls in a room when i was younger due to unchecked mold growth behind the plastic. i eventually tore down the plastic because everything i put in there would contaminate and i couldn't figure out why. it turns out it was the 20square foot blackish-green mold growth eating the walls away

yeah id use a pvc pipe frame was just talking about lowering cost. id be wary of that as well.

yeah looks like that squirrel cage blower is pushing nicely. the hepas are a bit more gentle. so this is your first run with this setup? keep us posted. nice work.

great builds :congrats:

@ lazysmurf;  you can build a GH real cheap. my first one was.
plastic ( or wire shelf ) from  good will ( or yard sale ) $5
clear shower curtain $3-4
CM $20

that's it. worked good.
