Possibly Gym?


Habitat:
Growing high up in a knot of a tree. Had to use a stick to prod it down.
Gills:
Rusty brown
Stem:
Thick, fairly tough to rip apart, yellow /w splotches of brownish red, solid.
When torn apart smells like sweaty balls. Don't mean to be rude, but that is the only thing I can relate the smell to lol.
Cap:
Yellow with spots on it, kind of scaley, but this specimen I believe is fairly old
Spore print color:
In Progress
Bruising:
Nothing obvious





Habitat:
Growing on mossy logs. Fairly common.
Gills:
Greenish white
Stem:
White stem, anything else note worthy is obvious by the pictures
Cap:
The caps where smooth and had a soft color on top which faded to whitish toward the gills
Spore print color:
Didn't take one but most likely greenish like the gills
Bruising:
Didn't see any, nor did I expect any.

First one looks like Pholiota. Second is probably Hypholoma fasciculare.

Definitly Hypholoma F.

The first one is most likely a Pholiota but I can't seem to find a species that is a good match for it. Would a spore print clarify anything?

Not really because Pholiota can have the same color print as Gymnopilus. I'm pretty sure that it's a Pholiota though. In its condition it'd probably be tough to figure it to species by appearance anyway.

Thanks as always danny!

Considering it has yet to drop spores over 3 hours of attempted printing I am assuming it is not a gymnopilus as well. Because gym's are known to drop tons and tons of spores.
