I've noticed a lot of people have been building their own flow hoods recently.

After working with them for a while, have you determined you picked the right size filter, or do you wish it would have been slightly larger?

I guess I'm asking...are you satisfied?

I have a 12x24 which is perfect for me.. Gives be 2 feet of width and a foot of height to work in which is plenty for me.. So I personally can't complain.

Do you (anyone) work with spawn bags at all with these? I imagine it would only be an issue if you were doing G2G.

ive done some agar into grain and so far no contams
ive actually done agar work infront of my hood without it being on because i didnt want to wake any one up
and had no contams lol, but i dont suggest it
ive been thinking about grain spawn bags but i need to find a way to seal them cheaply
kind of spent my money for the time being

I bought an impulse sealer a while back, it got lost in the mail somehow, and mysteriously ends up back a the ebay shipper's house.

And wanted me to pay shipping again.... I was like hell no, shipping was more than the sealer.

Anyway, I now seal my bags with micropore tape. I go ahead and do that before PCing. After PCing I might place another layer of micropore, then seal it for good with duct tape.

I'll get another one eventually, bit like you, I do not have the funds atm.

By the way, that's one hell of a flow hood. No electricity, and quiet.

I have done spawn bags in the past and never really had a problem with contamination.. I just had to many problems with the proper moisture content..  That was way back when.. But I am waiting on more spawn bags to arrive and I plan on doing those again.
