California Subb Hunters
    #11390439 - 11/05/09 01:43 PM (8 years, 15 days ago)

Hey everyone, i just wanted to know how every ones subb patches were doing? its starting to get cold and foggy now in the LA area and I'm trying to map out the times in which they stop and start fruiting, or fruit the best. Ive read the subb hunter guide and quite a few more sources so i know they fruit in high temps and with high moisture but that seems like ideal conditions, they seem very flexible. So if anyone is interested in helping me create a southern California subb season chingadera then type type type :]

thanks everyone, happy hunting:mushroom2:

Ive heard of people finding them with snow on the ground (so that shows flexibility). Of course thats not like, right in the middle of a snowy winter, but im sure it was exceptionally warm and wet for a time being and then a sudden snow hit the ground and the subbs were there from before. But of course it had to have been pretty chilly for subbs either way.

after this pending rain, i think they'll fruit more.

because i usually find them in town, while i'm out walking from one place to another, rather than when i have my camera with me out hunting mushrooms intentionally.

there's a park down the road which has been fruiting heavily with Agaricus californicus i intend to check after some more rain.

it seems prime for A. campestris and Panaeolous cinctulus.

yeah im just printing them at the moment and trying to cultivate without any luck.. theres too little fruiting to try and collect a dose, or maybe not i donno. The ones i find in the lawns are weenie subbs though. the ones i find in the park feild i usually collect from are huge and bruise a lot of the time. I miss em :[ good thing my friend is coming down from santa cruz for thanksgiving with some cubes : D heh

right on man. Ive seen a lot of agaricus species around here too even without any rain. It gets really foggy at night though and stays cold all day so im sure that compensates. So the Pink gilled, non yellow bruising, mushroom smelling agaricus with a coco brown spore print is edible correct? ive been finding a lot of them.

p.s. I noticed that the pan foes are absolutely loving this weather. ive never seen so many!
they seem to be more of a fall mushroom than a summer one.
