p.azurescens? convulsions leading to the ER

hello. i recently came across what were claimed to be psilocybe azurescens, just harvested here in the pacific northwest. i've eaten p.cubensis many many times, but i ate 4 grams of these and didn't get any of the effects that i get from p.cubensis. instead, i felt a slight 'buzz' (not the typical feeling of psilocybin, and, of course, if i was poisoned i would assume i would get some kind of weird feeling), kind of sped up, then after a few hours i began to lose motor function. my face and arms went numb/dead, then i was thrown into violent convulsions. but there was no nausea or vomiting at all. fearing i was poisoned or having a stroke i called an ambulance and by the time they got here my whole body was un-useable. i was carried out, put in the ambulance, and by that time i lost speech ability. when i talked it sounded like i was mentally retarded. but i was never 'tripping' in any way similar to the effects i am familiar with from p.cubensis; really not at all. i was completely coherent with no visuals at all. i got to the hospital and the thrashing convulsions and complete weakness in my whole body went on for a few hours. my CT brain scan was normal and my blood and urine tests were normal. and now, about 12 hours after ingestion i have regained all motor function. do you know of any species resembling p.azurescens that may cause this? was it possibly a mixed bag that had some 'imposters' in it. my partner ate the same amount and this didn't happen to her; she also didn't trip, but she complained of vision problems similar to the kind you get when you take too much MDMA (I also had this). nothing like this has EVER happened with p.cubensis and i've eaten as many as 8 grams of them in a day. my understanding is that p.azurescens are generally stronger than p.cubensis, but i didn't 'trip.' i just got convulsions and ended up in the hospital, but with no nausea or any gastro-upsets, no visuals or hallucinations. i'm wondering if they were just contaminated by mold or something, but why didn't i trip? i've attached the best picture i could get of what's left of them. please help. psilocybe mushrooms have saved my life by breaking my addictions to meth and cocaine, and play a huge role in my spiritual practice, but now i'm terrified. any feedback would be much appreciated!

those are really strong... and they look actually good too me.
you had 4 grams? no wonder... i wouldn't have had nice big playlist prepared for that kind of trip. wouldn't be outside (especially at welll EITHER time of the day) at those dose of those very strong mushrooms. too bad you didn't just stick to 2 or maybe 3... i've done 3.5 of azures before and it was one of my best trips.

i ate very close to 10 grams of azies once and thats almost exactly what happend.
what it felt liek to me was there where SOOOO MANY signaly flying through my nerves that they where getting clogged. total traffic jam.
i was tripping very hard and could actualy see the comunication breakdown playing out inside myself.
be carful with these poweful freinds. 4 grams is equivelent to over a 1/4 of cubes
know what your doing

exactly. you gotta really find a good headspace for all that shit to process and ahve you not feel like you're in time breakdown mode.
or at least, it's how it is for me at this point... meditation before contemplation.

Yea, I've never seen azures with stems that long either. If they were fresh, it would be easier to tell, but I would say that you were likely poisoned in some way. I'm not familiar with mushroom poisonings, so I couldn't say what kind of mushrooms have poisoning similar to what you experienced. They may have been azies though, I'm not sure.
That's why it's soooooooo important to know for certain what you are picking. Unless the person picking them is extremely experienced, consuming picked mushrooms is a seriously dangerous practice. It's good to hear that you're ok though, and it wasn't a fatal poisoning. Hopefully you'll be able to build up the courage to have a successful trip again in the future.

i just was talkign about this in the "most mushrooms you have taken" thread
it was not a shiny example of good sense on my part. i ate way too much cus i had eaten large doses 2 times already in the days before. so i figured i would need an astral dose.
we where camped out on the coast too. very far from help. so once i went paralized i pretty much had to rely on others to tend to me, and had to keep myself from fliping out,
it was an amazing trip tho. i learned ALOT and felt amazing as fuck in the morning when my body returned to me

I'm looking for pictures of dried azures, and they're hard to come by, but one question. Do you see any noticeable blue bruising anywhere on these mushrooms? If not, that would be a clue right there. They still do resemble azures to an extent, but the caps look a little too small to me. Not the best picture though, so still hard to say.

i really want to stress the fact that i was not at all tripping. like i was waiting for it to come on, thinking it wasn't gonna go anywhere, then about three hours later this started. it was all neurological symptoms, i was not hallucinating or having visuals. maybe they are just VERY low in psilocybin, but have higher rates of the toxic chemicals in them? really, i wasn't tripping AT ALL.

what you describe is not uncharictoristic of azies. but you would have been seeing somthing, or at leased feeling funny

That's why I'm inclined to think you were poisoned. If they were any type of a hallucinogenic mushroom, you would have at least tripped a little, and then been overcome by the effects, but no hallucinations at all leads me to believe that they were not azures. It's near impossible to identify a mushroom when it's dried, and I'm sure there are many poisonous mushrooms that look very similar to azures when dry. Really no way to tell unless they are fresh.

Maybe it was SO intense that you forgot you tripped! Hahah, try hiring a hypnotist to release the repressed memories.
Sorry man, don't mean to joke about your rough time. Had to of been scary. The important thing is that you're okay now.
Perhaps your body noted too much of something in the system and put you into shock to save your vital organs? I don't think that it was a fungal toxin since it would have left you with decreased liver and renal function, something that the docs would have noted in the tests. Even if it was a fungal toxin with no adverse effects to liver/renal, then you would likely have had major nausea, ect.
I am putting my two cents in the corner of severe overdose. Your body reacted properly to an absolute overload. Whether or not there is some sort of chemical reaction that occurred in the brain to neutralize the psychoactive effects is unknown to me.

But still, I can't find any information on poisoning that would resemble what you experienced, with the exception of Gyromitrin, which as far as we know is found only in mushrooms that resemble morels. These look nothing like morels obviously.

you already said you had a slight buzz they were probably psilocybe, they dont really look like anything poisonous either. temporary paralysis has been reported with shrooms, especially the woodlovers up north for some reason ive noticed.
