Yep, that's cobweb with a healthy jar below.
-------------------- Did he dream about dragons? Did he dream about deer? Did he whisper he names of friends who were near? What songs did they play, and how far away? Why did he whisper, why did she scream? What does the sound of a screen door mean? Who talks on the hill? Who goes to the cellar, can you feel the chill? Where does the river, when will the wind? How far are the mountains? Where do they end? Why would the church? Did the service begin? Tell me who died, and tell me who cried. Help me hide in the skin of a deer, my zippered-up bag in the mouth of a stag so swiftly I go through rows of does, it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows all over the hill where the green grass grows.

I'd be more concerned with whats happening at the bottom of that jar.

thats cobweb buddy.
I have let cobweb grow, and that is precisely what happens when you let cobweb mature IN a jar. At first, the cobweb mold is all whispy-like, but if you allow the cobweb to build up and grow over time, the cobweb will turn a rotting yellow color, its about the nastiest thing I have ever seen. Worse than any trichoderma.

If it's cobweb then the jar is contaminated! inski.

looks like myc, and all those metabolites your jar is sitting in is a sure sign of some bacterial problems.

I see haha, I just took a quick glance and didn't notice there was no strains of mycelium. Picture saved this is a good one, but i think it belongs in the contamination section.

just the top from what i'm guessing, looks grey whispy and hairy like cobweb should (I can hardly see it). Then again it does look like mycelium in its early stage.

the pool of metabolites (or whatever it is) is not mycelium. if that always happens to your jars then your jars are not healthy.

Jar got stained awhile back from some rust, that's on the outside. And no, it wasn't myc, it wasn't connected to the rest of the jar, just a patch on top. Everything smelled and looked perfect when I took it out to rinse/dunk

If you look at that bottom circle you can clearly see that is not mycelium.

i forget that its common practice here to just reply to the last post in a thread rather than the actual post they are replying too. (notice the re:citizen13)
thanks for the clarification. i say it looks like myc too but the whole jar does just kind of look wierd. maybe a better picture would help?
