Mushroom-Hut Shop: Substrate Mix

First Attempt: PLEASE HELP!!!

This is my first attempt, PF Tek, BRF cake, Half-pint mason jars.

I have gone through inoculation, now I am awaiting colonization.

Problem is I cannot keep the jars anywhere out in the open and most clandestine sites are too cold this time of year.

I have a room in the attic, or I can build a small box in the basement, but either would require a heater unit to keep them a decent temp, but I am sure this will deplete humidity drastically.

I am currently keeping them in the kitchen cabinets where the kids wont go, but the temp never exceeds 70 F and 50-55% humidity.

I thought of constructing a couple Tupperdor's to resolve this, but I thought I would get some good advice from some good folks first.

If your house is 'room temperature' Just put them in a box in the closet.
In a box under the bed... In a box above your fridge...

Room temp is all that is needed. :wink:

if you are hiding this from someone who does not approve, you probably should not be doing this at all right now. that being said, if you can, get some rigid insulation, read up on R values. build yourself something that can be heated 'occasionally' and thoroughly insulated, and don't burn your place down, rigid insulation is flammable, just an idea.

From what I gather from the post the objective is to keep the kids out of it.

Try finding a small sized box or chest that locks, like a toolbox.  Home Depot has basic ones for no more that $8.  Good luck

take a shoebox. put your jars in there. and put it above a fridge or tv or monitor.(you know that thing a printers suppose to go on?)

a shoebox is pretty discreet right?

room temp is perfect. just make sure it doesnt dip below 70.

it doesnt really matter. ive fruited in 65degs before and it was only a couple days behind fruiting at 70-75.
