gimme your doctor opinion
    #11378350 - 11/03/09 06:45 PM (8 years, 18 days ago)

last two weeks i've had this really fucked up upper back, neck pain. I saw a doctor and got it x rayed and it came up fine. it's like a burning pain that's present all day except when i'm laying down really. what should i do about this shit. it's weird because it kind of came out of nowhere, no injury to cause it or anything. i started playing guitar a lot more, but even if i don't play for a few days - it still hurts, so i dont think that could be it. i've also greatly improved my posture - which only seems to make it worse

I self-studied the Alexander Technique the past few years for all my neck/back pain.

Helps a lot in many ways, very interesting subject.

go see a chiropractor...also practice on standing up straight as much as possible... a massage can't hurt either....

if the x-ray showed up fine then maybe your muscles are just tense and sore?

likely a nerve problem, or possibly tendon related.
neither of those would show up on an xray.

I have a exercise routine sort of, nothing stressful. I have been a bit of an anxious mess, but I don't think it would cause THIS much pain. muscle relaxants have no effect on it.

the odds of it being a nerve problem if it covers a large area of your back is pretty slim, most likely muscular tension.  Have you tried taking any muscle relaxants and seeing what that does for the pain?

yeah it's like in a 4 inch by 4 inch square in the middle of my back right under my neck/shoulders. fucking unbearable.

i should mention, before this pain arised, I had lower back pain for about 2 weeks, but it kind of creeped up my back and now the lower pain is gone, and its all in the upper part.

meditation doesn't help the pain (lower  anxiety)

if the pain moved it most likely isn't nerve, probably muscular related even if muscle relaxants dont work.

you know of anything I should try and do to fix it? are there muscle doctors? or you think even maybe a few good massages may help?
