a purple spore print would not indicate psathyrella.

is it possible for you to post pictures?

Sounds more like Conocybe to me. Pics are always appreciated. It helps us to not having to whip out the old crystal ball.

[EDIT] Didn't see the part about the purple spore print, but from the rest of the description I am doubting the purple spore print.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

the only problem with hypholoma is it wasnt growing on wood. at least im 99.9% sure it wasnt. it was dark out but im still sure there was no wood around. it does look like a few of them though

I thought about that; maybe the wood is buried. But I guess Psathyrella is a possibility, even though I've never heard of a Psathyrella with a purple-tinted print.
