Couliflower mushroom and coral mushroom
    #1135798 - 12/12/02 01:54 PM (21 years, 2 months ago)

Here is the prized couliflower mushroom. It seems very tough, however after some cooking must be wonderful to eat. This was the only specimen I found.

And a coral mushroom. These were growing everywhere.

Nice specimens.

The Ramaria will be really difficult to identify accurately (even with a microscope), unless it happens to be one of the few really distinctive ones. Unless it bruises an odd color (like green) or has a peculiar odor (like chocolate) or something like that you'll have to spend some quality time with a microscope to even have a good chance of getting the species correct. Unless it's bitter or gelatinous inside it's probably edible, but some people get diarrhea from eating them.

You're sure hitting the jackpot lately.

Happy mushrooming!

Yeah, Im not too sure about the coral. I did not pick it up anyways.

As for the cauliflower mushroom (Sparasis crispa), do you think I have that?

Yeah, that's Sparassis. As Alexander Smith said, it looks like a bouquet of egg noodles. They're pretty unmistakeable.

You're getting very interesting mushrooms!!! You should clone them. I've been looking for Sparassis crispa cultures for a long time.

Dont have any agar or extremely sterile environments...otherwise I would love to.
