return to the horsefield stuntziis(oh so blue!)
    #11373518 - 11/03/09 12:38 AM (7 years, 11 months ago)

well i went back to the horsefield in my sisters friends back yard if you remember from a post a few weeks ago. getting a positive id will be helped when i send them to workman. i thought stuntzii var tenius, but the pics didnt show any veil remnants.and they are sooo much thicker and hardier than any grass stuntzii i have ever found though. the stem is very thick and the capps are wavy in maturity like a cyan.

but these pics clearly show the veil remnant. look how blue the caps get though!sooo nice. and so different than those other field ringers from the other day.look at the 3rd pic,at the bottom those pinns are super blue, almost black!man thats sexy, these gotta be potent.

Regardless of how blue a Stuntzii is, they're ridiculously low in potency :frown:

i  dont know man.i haven't eaten this variety yet. i used to pic grass stuntziiis off a soccer field and they were mild.but they weren't as nice and meaty or blue as these ones.
i do beleive the more blue the more potent, why wouldn't it if psilocin is an active compound.

ya i know.but if i remember correctly psilocin is involved in the blueing process.and mushrooms like cyans or baeos blue heavely and are quite potent. stuntziis are low in baoecystin though ,low to mid in psilocybin.
but there is probably more to be studied .there is so much variation from habitat preferences to just general apearances in stuntzii that it cant be just so concrete. i have held potent mushrooms like cyans, baeos, cubensis, and liberties.and weaker shrooms like stuntziiz var stuntzii or pellicolosas.and these just feel nice.when i eat them i will let you know comparitive shroom for shroom to liberty caps.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the bluing is the chemicals reaction to the oxygen. I thought it was something like the more blue the less potent due to the oxidation of the psilocin....I could be wrong though.

or the blueing reaction is making it less potent but a indicator to the fact that it is potent.you know what i mean?not sure if that makes sense.

Yes, it makes sense, if the oxidation is very blue they were potent, the key is to be gentle when collecting them and damage them as little as possible, nice finds by the way!
inski.

cool inski, i wasnt sure if i was remembering correctly.i couldnt help the bruising though. some of the pins were dark blue already!these things grow undernieth these thick tufts of wierd fallen over grass.so they are constantly covered being a private patch. the grass is quite thick and heavy and its sitting on them.
none of them grow out in the open, this patch is only growing in this one spot like 5ft by 5 ft. it is quite unique.
thanks for looking everyone.

wait... are Stuntziis usually found in grass or woodchips? I haven't researched them much, but thought they prefer woodchips to grasses? I have a feeling I've been mistaken

there is a grass stuntzii and a wood loving stuntzii. refered to as stuntzii var. tenius and stuntzii var. stuntzii.

they are known to grow in lawns, which i have picked them in.and i have also found them in wood chips.but never in this kind of grass.

check my recent posts from a few days ago showing an even different blue ringer from a cow field.could also be a stuntzii var tenius or it could be a fimetaria or subfimetaria.the other ringers you may find in a field with dung.
i gotta get off my ass and send these off and find out for sure.

The two morphological forms of P. Stuntzii are most likely caused by conditions when fruiting rather than being Two seperate varietys prefering different habitat. Some people on this board grew Wood-loving Stuntzii indoors and the fruits ended up like the Grass variety.

airdog, i tried them out last night.
anthony, you were correct.an orange is always and orange and a banana is always a banana. they are stuntziis regardless of how much they blue.
i ate 12 ddried specimens last night. i know i can feel pretty decent eating just 5 of the smallest potentest liberty caps. so i figured i would double that amount being a stuntzii. they were quite mellow, i actually enjoyed the high quite a bit. if you dont need a super super intense trip you would like these. i find libs to be a different high altogether, maybe the higher baeocystin content or something.who knows.
i think i may double the dose next time.
one wierd thing to note is it took over 2 hours to kick in.libs kick in about a half hour.
