The Who: Live at Leeds
    #1137289 - 12/13/02 04:21 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

The best live album of all time, and probably my favourite Who album, over all of the studio releases. It's just got so much vitality and energy, it sounds so fresh. I get a dunt from listening to it; makes me want to pick up a bass and fretwank, or cause irrepairable damage to a kit.

The Stones claimed to be the best rock n roll band of all time, but The Who piss all over them. I've seen a video of the Rolling Stones Circus Tour; the Stones were shambolic! The Who easily stole the show. The line up is one of the most amazing of any band: Keith Moon on drums (IMO the greatest ever drummer, even better than Zeppelin's Bonham), John Endwistle on bass (also better than Paul-Jones), Pete Townshend, one god of a rock guitarist and obviously songwriter, and though Daltrey's singing was a bit weak on eariler stuff, here he's easily the other members' equal. Young Man Blues... proof.

The Who's position in music history has to be seriously reconsidered. I've just creamed myself.

let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love

I've never heard it.

The two cd's I have are "Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy" and "Sells Out" .

I'm sure "LAL" is good though.

I know you were talking about The Who in their prime (right?) . . . buuuuut I saw The Who in Toronto in late September and The Stones in Toronto on October 18 (both shows this year, 2002), and I have to say that even though The Who impressed the hell out of me, they are still an oh-so-close second to the Stones. The Rolling Stones are truly rock and roll man, they represent the whole genre. In my opinion, then can't be beat, not even by a mighty band such as The Who.
